Along with festive season greetings from a member of Kibbutz Gal-Ed came a message that speaks of visits to Givat Even Itzhak, the impressive stone monument marking the original spot where the kibbutz first began.  It is approximately two kms from the present day, bustling, kibbutz and serves as a reminder of the legacy of Isaac Ochberg, albeit only in the memory of those familiar with the history of the area.  It is indeed a very impressive sight, somewhat off the beaten track, and will be the subject of fresh investigation on our part soon.

And a message from the Gen Manager of Kibbutz Dalia, Shacham Mittler, in response to my greetings.

Hi Bennie

Good to hear from you!
Thank you for your good wishes and, on behalf of Kibbutz Dalia, I wish you, your family and all the descendants of Isaac Ochberg, a year of peace, happiness and good health.
We will remember the heritage that Isaac Ochberg granted to you, to us and to the State of Israel.

In friendship and respect,

Shacham

An important milestone was reached last Thursday with a presentation I made, together with Hanna Livne, the lady who designed the Ochberg Memorial Site and the surrounding project (more on this subject in future bulletins) to the senior 32 functionaries of the Tour Guides Division of the Ministry of Tourism.  This is part of our ongoing efforts to bring the Ochberg saga to the attention of all registered tour guides and to include the Memorial Site on their planning agendas.

Tomorrow, Thursday 20th, we are scheduled to meet with the senior staff of the Megido School (250 meters from the Memorial Site) to conclude plans for the inclusion of the Ochberg story in the school syllabus.

FACE BOOK

Lynne Ruch Michel posted in Ochberg Orphans and Descendants and Friends

This group was established to share information about the Ochberg Orphans and their descendents. It is open to anyone, in particular, descendents and friends of the Ochberg Orphans. All input is welcome and can be posted directly on the wall.
Should anyone wish to join the group, they may simply request to join with a brief introduction to themselves. And they will be made more than welcome.
We look forward to flourishing as a group, held together by a common bond - a deep gratitude to the legacy left by Isaac Ochberg - a legacy that has affected the entire shape of many of our lives.

Again, 'Hag Samea'h to you all!
